AIMCo CEO Leo de Bever succeeded by veteran investment exec Kevin Uebelein

EDMONTON — Long-time investment industry executive Kevin Uebelein has been named to replace Leo de Bever as CEO of the Alberta Investment Management Corp.De Bever announced plans to retire earlier this year.Uebelein, who takes up his duties as chief executive Jan. 5, has held several top positions including as president and CEO of Pyramis Global Advisors, the institutionally focused asset management unit of Fidelity Investments as well as global head of investment solutions at Fidelity Investments.Previously, his almost 30-year career in investment management has included progressively senior positions with Prudential Financial Inc., including head of alternative investments, and culminating as chief investment officer for Japan, and then International operations.“The appointment of Mr. Uebelein as chief executive officer marks the successful conclusion of a comprehensive, diligent process to identify the individual best suited to lead AIMCo through its next phase of organizational maturity,” AIMCo chairman Charles Baillie said in announcing the appointment Wednesday.AIMCo is an Alberta Crown corporation that manages some $80 billion in assets on behalf of 27 pension, endowment and government funds, including the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.
