Fort St. John woman wins award for overcoming hardships

A local woman is receiving a province-wide award that celebrates overcoming adversity. Fort St. John resident Lori Slater will be heading to Vancouver to receive a Courage to Comeback Award. Slater says she is the first person from Fort St. John to receive the Physical Rehabilitation and Medical Award.She says she got the phone call on Thursday night, saying she was unanimously chosen out of 90 other applicants. Slater was born with Spina Bifida, which affects the spinal cord. It didn’t take full effect until she was in her 30’s. After undergoing many surgeries, Slater was faced with the reality of using a wheelchair to maintain her mobility.She says since then, she wants to help people in similar situations in a way a medical professional cannot. Global Ship Lease Agrees Charter with OOCL

first_imgzoomIllustration; Source: Pixabay under CC0 Creative Commons license Containership charter owner Global Ship Lease has signed a new agreement with Hong Kong-based container shipping and logistics service company Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (OOCL).The charter was signed for the 2003-built GSL Keta “at an improved rate”, according to GSL.Commencing in late July, the 2,207 TEU vessel will be chartered for 50 to 90 days to OOCL at a fixed rate of USD 8,700 per day.“With strong fundamentals driving continuing improvements across the ship sizes that make up our fleet of high-quality, mid-sized and smaller containerships, Global Ship Lease is in an excellent position to realize additional benefits for our shareholders,” Ian Webber, Chief Executive Officer of Global Ship Lease, said.last_img read more
