Lara, who also holds the record for the highest score in Test cricket with an astonishing 400 not out, surpassed the then record of 499 by Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammad’s  while playing for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston. Rahane made over 1,000 runs in only his second Ranji Trophy season to play a crucial part in Mumbai’s title winning campaign in 2008-09. Since making his Test debut for India in 2013, Rahane went on to become one of the country’s most trusted batsmen overseas. In the 22 Test matches he has played so far, Rahane has scored 1619 runs at an average of 44.97.
